The Story of Dr. Halil Ibrahim Tekin and Dr.HIT Cyprus IVF Center
As a Cyprus IVF center, we are proud to have helped thousands of families achieve their dream of having a child for more than 25 years under the leadership of Dr. Halil Ibrahim Tekin. Dr. Tekin was born on September 8, 1962, in Nicosia. He began his education at Tavas İstiklal Primary School and later won admission to Galatasaray High School in 1973, where he completed both his middle and high school education. In 1987, he graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and completed a short specialization at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
Dr. Halil Ibrahim Tekin – IVF Specialist
Continuing his medical career internationally, Dr. Tekin worked for five months in 1985 at the University of Lille in France in the field of Endocrinological Surgery with Prof. C. Proy. Between 1987 and 1989, he worked as an emergency physician and forensic doctor at Denizli State Hospital. In 1988, he received the Hızır Emergency Certificate from Ankara Numune Hospital. Between 1991 and 2004, he worked at Pakize Tarzi Hospital and left in 2004 due to the hospital’s restructuring process.
Specialization at Cyprus IVF Center
In 1995, Dr. Halil Ibrahim Tekin completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Zeynep Kamil Hospital and received the title of specialist physician. During this period, which became a major milestone in his career, he gained deep expertise in women’s health and reproductive medicine.
In 1997, he began working at the IVF center established within Zeynep Kamil Hospital under the leadership of the Israeli Harovitz Institute. Dr. Tekin received his first IVF training from the world-renowned Prof. Laufer and had the opportunity to work with leading experts such as Prof. T. Atasu, Prof. U. Özekici, and Prof. Sahmay. These experiences allowed him to specialize further in IVF treatments.
Between 1997 and 2004, Dr. Tekin continued working at Pakize Tarzi Hospital and obtained the ART (Assisted Reproductive Techniques) license. This certification officially documented his competence in IVF and other reproductive treatments and opened a new chapter in his professional career.
Achievements of Cyprus IVF Center
In 2000, Dr. Halil Ibrahim Tekin pioneered the establishment of the first IVF center in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Nicosia. This center became the first IVF clinic in the Turkish world to perform donation treatments. Under Dr. Tekin’s leadership, by 2017 more than 28,500 IVF procedures had been performed and nearly 25,000 families experienced the joy of having children. This remarkable success made Dr. Tekin a global leader in donation treatments.
In 2004, Dr. Tekin founded the Middle East and Balkans IVF Center. Since May 2014, he has continued his work at the Near East University IVF Center and the Famagusta Medical Center ART unit. As of March 2025, he left the Famagusta Medical Center and plans to move to our new clinic in Mutluyaka in September 2025. During this transition period, we continue to provide uninterrupted services to our patients on the 2nd floor of Yaşam Hospital.
Each year, we help more than 500 international families from countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Norway, and Australia achieve their dream of having a child. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tekin actively participates in scientific studies both nationally and internationally, contributing to innovations in IVF treatments. His vision has helped transform Northern Cyprus into a global center for fertility treatments.

Dr. Tekin’s Multidimensional Personality
Dr. Halil Ibrahim Tekin has a multifaceted personality in addition to his achievements in medicine. Between 1974 and 1981, he played basketball for the Galatasaray Sports Club in the junior, youth, and senior teams. During his university and specialization years, he served as a coach and administrator at Galatasaray for nearly 10 years. Under the presidency of Yalçın Granit, he worked as the vice president of the basketball branch. He is currently a member of the Galatasaray Club and Galatasaray Association Council, as well as a member of the Galatasaray Former Athletes Association.Dr. Tekin speaks French, English, and Russian. He is an amateur pilot with NPPL and JAAR PPL pilot licenses and has a strong passion for aviation.
